Guys r
The contractor has been having trouble trying to pull the old concrete bridge piles out
He has a 220 ton crane and they have tried to vibrate the piles out multiple times and
cannot get them to move They used a hollow steel pile and vibrated it down around the
existing concrete pile to loosen the compaction around the pile This still dial not work
and now the only option is to place a turbidity curtain around the pile and run a single
water het down the side of the pile to break the freeze on the pile Hopefully once
they complete this on a few of the piles the soil will give some and allow the rest of
the piles to come up without the betting The contractor will deploy a turbidity curtain
around each pile that uses a single het to break the pile free ,
The only other option is to cut the piles of below the mud line but this will mean we
need to redesign some of the new pile positions to avoid hitting the old piles remaining
in the mud which is not a very good option
Do you guys have any concerns with this technique?
Thanks
Clay
