13/US 158 from US 158/NC 45 near Winton to the US 158 Bypass in Tarheel

Letter from USACE dated June 21, 2012
The purpose of this correspondence is to address comments received during the public
notice period for this project forwarded from your office in a letter dated June 21 2012
(attached) The first comment submitted by Mr Vernon Pope involves his concern
about how the project s design will affect drainage Issues on his property In his letter
dated May 12 2012 (attached) Mr Pope mentions talking with Marshall Clawson a
DOT hydraulics engineer about possible changes to the drainage design Mr Clawson
informed him that a scouring hole presentee in the plans on sheet 19 (sites 25 26, and 27)
was no longer being used and that the drain In the median would now connect directly to
a proposed culvert Revised permit drawings reflecting these changes were forwarded to
you via email on July 2 2012
The second comment was received from the NC Division of Marine Fisheries requesting
an in -water work moratorium from February 15 to June 30 This moratorium has already
been agreed to and incorporated into the project commitments
