Subject: DAK ammonia Daily Max violation, composite collected from 1/20 to 1/21/09 From: "Dale.Lopez" <Dale.Lopez@ncmail.net> Date: Tue, 27 Jan 2009.10:19:52 -0500 To: Dale Lopez <Dale.Lopez@ncmail.net>, Belinda Henson <Belinda.Henson@ncmail.net>, Hughie White <Hughie.White@ncmail.net>, Chad Turlington <Chad.Tuxlington@ncmail.net>, Mike Lawyer <Mike.Lawyer@ncmail.-net>, Mark Brantley <Mark.Brantley@ncmail.net>, trent.allen@ncmail.net, danny.strickland@ncmail.net Donald Allbright phoned to report that the ammonia was 199 lbs/D (166 mg/L). DAK's Daily Max. limit is 140 lbs/D. The chain of events started with a break in a transfer line from a tanker truck to the urea tank. The 300.gallon urea spill of urea went into the pH pit, and later into the WWTP. The low temperatures during last week caused the nitrifiers to slow down. Although the ammonia was reduced in the WWTP, but not enough. 1 of 1 1/27/2009 10:23 AM .
