Concord, NC 28027 70 4.786.178 3 + 704 .79 5.1564 Fax www . wsacc.org The Water and Sewer Authority of Cabarrus County, is hereby contacting the North Carolina State Historic Preservation Office regarding the presence of any historic properties or cultural resources within the referenced project area. The Lower Coddle Creek Interceptor site is a variable width, 30,000-foot long corridor beginning at Coddle Creek Drive SW, and extending southeast along the floodplain of Coddle Creek to Rocky River Road in Cabarrus County, North Carolina (Figures 1 and 2). The center coordinates for the project are 35.346003°, -80.61756°. Carolina Wetland Services, Inc. (CWS) is the acting environmental consultant for this project and has prepared the following documentation. CWS will be included in all correspondences. The study area consists of undeveloped forest, a maintained powerline right-of-way, gravel roads, maintained lawns, and a sewer line right-of-way. The purpose of the project is to provide improvements for the wastewater system. The proposed project will likely require a Clean Water Act Section 404/401 permit. Based on a review of the State Historic Preservation Office's online GIS application and GIS layer, there are no historic properties within the study area (Figure 4).1 There were no structures observed during the pedestrian surveys conducted on February 21, 25, 26, and 28, 2020, March 2, 4, and 9, 2020, and April 28, and 29, 2020. Please provide a written response concerning your determination regarding the presence of any historic properties or cultural resources within the project area.
