The issues noted within the inspection report have been addressed. Please review the corrective actions and explanations below; 1. Pump Station Visits — The operator that was designated to routinely oversee the collection system is no longer employed by Carolina Water Service of North Carolina. CWSNC has adopted a new protocol, which will require visitation to the pump stations at least twice per week and ideally three times per week. These visits will be logged to ensure compliance with our current permit. Electronic keys will be utilized at each lift station site at Hemby Acres which log the time and date the operator was on site. 2. Right of Way — The Oak Grove lift station #3 right-of-way outfalls were observed to be overgrown and needed clearing. The area has been cleared and made easily accessible to allow for routine inspections and maintenance. It should be noted that this easement is located in a flood plain and is not always accessible for clearing due to wet conditions. Please see enclosure labeled "A ". • 4944 Parkway Plaza Blvd. Suite 375 • Charlotte, North Carolina 28217 • 800-525-7990 3. Manhole Vent Screens — It was documented that there were vent screens missing during the inspection. All vents that were inspected have new screens installed, and all other manhole vents within the collection system have been inspected to ensure all vents are properly screened and in good repair. Please see enclosure B. 4. Signage — The inspector, (Mr. Tony Parker), documented on the inspection that the signage at each pump station visited needed a physical address location identifier. In the permit issued by NCDENR (WQCS00233), Section I.9 states: "Each pump station shall be clearly and conspicuously posted with a pump station identifier and an emergency contact telephone number..." There is no mention of a requirement to post the physical address. This would be difficult to provide due to the location of some of the lift stations being in easements and rights -of -ways that cannot be represented by a physical address. We have a unique identifier for each pump station in Hemby Acres. Therefore, we respectfully request that this violation be rescinded. Please see enclosure C. Carolina Water Service of North Carolina takes Notice of Violations seriously and apologizes for these oversights We strive to be good stewards of the environment and the communities in which we serve. We have reviewed and implemented procedures to ensure that we maintain compliance with our issued permit.
