Please give a brief project description below.
The Marine Corps proposes to demolish and reconstruct RR92
(Boathouse & Docks) under Project #19-0085. This project is needed to
repair damage from Hurricane Florence and to bring RR92 into
compliance with current codes and design standards.
RR92 is a boathouse on the shore of Stones, Creek, northwest of the
intersection of Range Road and Powder Lane. The structure includes a
623sf internal dock enclosed under a 1,221sf roof and three exterior walls
which are supported by timber piles. Under the Proposed Action, the
boathouse will be demolished and the timber piles will be removed. All
demolished materials will be hauled offsite for disposal. A total of 24 new
timber piles will be driven into the bottom of Stone Creek in the same
footprint as the current boathouse. A new boathouse will be constructed
on the pilings and will have the same footprint, orientation, and general
architectural style as the current boathouse.
