Pretreatment Program Element Updates:
• The City of Hickory has implemented the Dental Amalgam Rule by
identifying all dental dischargers in the Hickory area. Survey efforts began
on 7/16/18 by sending packets that included the model cover letter
explaining the Dental Amalgam Rule, EPA fact sheet, and One -Time
Compliance Report to 37 dentists/practices Additional dentists/practices
were identified through a registry of NC active dentists obtained in 2019.
Additional OTCR's were sent to those dischargers. There are currently 40
active dental practices in the City of Hickory's service area. Please note
that each practice may have multiple active dentists at the same practice.
A summary table is maintained which indicates the dates that the One -
Time Compliance Reports were received Our response rate is 100%, as
all OTCR's for current practices in the City of Hickory's service area have
been received.
