Dear Sirs
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) proposes to install a traffic
roundabout at this intersection to replace the existing signaled intersection This project
is expected to provide a number of benefits for the community and local travelers The
new configuration is expected to increase safety at this intersection while allowing traffic
to flow in a smoother, more efficient manner
This area also once served as a major thoroughfare for travelers passing through Wilson
en route to other destinations With improvements to transportation infrastructure in and
around Wilson, notably US Highway 264 the project area is no longer a major
thoroughfare and is now subject mostly to local traffic The new configuration would
serve to restore the aesthetics of an established residential area in addition to the safety
and efficiency benefits provided by this project
MINIMIZATION INFORMATION
Impacts will be minimized by strict enforcement of Best Management Practices for the
protection of surface waters and wetlands restrictions against the staging of equipment in
