It has been pretty busy around the holiday. Our current plans for this culvert extension will have to be revised. I was able to be in the Thomasville area before the holiday and had a chance to take a look at this culvert for myself. This is a CIVIP culvert that has been installed since the early 70's and as you can imagine the invert of this pipe is deteriorated beyond use. Our only option at this point is to replace the entire culvert. Once I have determined a design for this crossing that will address the safety and stability issue we are currently having I am sure I will be back in touch. To answer a couple of your questions there is +/ -195' between the box culvert for the R/R and our existing pipe. As for as the energy dissipation, I have attached a detail I have used in the past with DWQ and the Corps. to address the bank stabilization and minimize the amount of impacts to the stream. This detail will allow for aquatic passage and provide a stabilize bank transition from the end of the culvert. Thanks again for all your help! Of Land Resources to find out if they will require any riprap energy dissipater at the outlet of the pipe. They often do and the USAGE and DWQ counts that area as impacts to the stream. Thanks. I have some concerns about the alignment of the pipe and how close it is to the culvert under the railroad. Would it be possible to schedule a site visit and see how much distance there is as well as get a feel for what the stream looks like? I'm copying John Thomas so that he may let us know if he'd like to attend also.
