SUBJECT: Compliance Inspection Report
Gamewell Collection System
Collection System Permit No. WQCS00313
Caldwell County
Dear Permittee:
The North Carolina Division of Water Resources conducted an inspection of the Gamewell Collection
System on 2/23/2021. This inspection was conducted to verify that the facility is operating in
compliance with the conditions and limitations specified in Collection System Permit No. WQCS00313.
The findings and comments noted during this inspection are provided in the enclosed copy of the
inspection report entitled "Compliance Inspection Report."
The following items were noted during the inspection:
• The Rock Road Pump Station was observed to be accumulating a significant amount of oil and grease.
It is recommended that the pump station be cleaned and oil and grease removed. The distribution of
additional FOG educational materials may help mitigate this issue in the future.
• The aerial crossings observed appear to be currently stable but the creeks are subject to a high level of
erosion from urban runoff. The soil surrounding several of the piers supporting the crossing pipe could
be subject to rapid erosion in large storm events. Continue to monitor these areas after significant
weather.
If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me with the Water
Quality Regional Operations Section in the Asheville Regional Office at 828-296-4500 or via email at
tim.heim@ncdenr.gov.
Sincerely,
,--DocuSigned by:

Inspection Summary:
Tim Heim of the Asheville Regional Office performed a Compliance Evaluation Inspection on February 23, 2021. John
Abernethy (ORC for West Consultants) was present at the time of the inspection.
The system appeared well maintained and operated at the time of the inspection, record keeping appeared thorough and up
to date, and staff maintain adequate spare parts and equipment.
The following items were noted during the inspection:
The Rock Road Pump Station was observed to be accumulating a significant amount of oil and grease. It is recommended
that the pump station be cleaned and oil and grease removed. The distribution of additional FOG educational materials may
help mitigate this issue in the future.
The aerial crossings observed appear to be currently stable but the creeks are subject to a high level of erosion from urban
runoff. The soil surrounding several of the piers supporting the crossing pipe could be subject to rapid erosion in large storm
