This letter provides notice that the subject facility needs to undertake an industrial pump a haul operation
in accordance with 15A NCAC 02T .0203. We request your concurrence with this activity is deemed
permitted as required by the regulation.
The purpose of this activity is to provide an alternate treatment and disposal for ash contaminated wash

A passive wheel wash system is scheduled to be installed by mid -March and the project engineers are
reviewing design criteria to use the wash water in the STAR system for cooling within the reactor. These
processes will lessen the volume of wash water requiring shipment to off -site treatment.
The wash water is shipped to SEC's wastewater treatment facility in Greensboro, NC. SEC provides both
wastewater treatment and hauling of the waste. A letter of acceptance from SEC outlining their permits
and capability is included with this submittal in accordance with 15A NCAC 02T .0203, this wash water
contains no human waste.
We request that you provide written concurrence with this activity, in accordance with the regulatory
requirements for coverage under 15A NCAC 02T .0203. If you have any questions or require any
additional information concerning this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me at
