BARWICK PUBLIC SERVICES DIRECTOR CITY OF KINSTON NARRATIVE January -December 2020 GENERAL INFORMATION The following occurred during the January-December2020 reporting period: • SMITHFIELD PACKAGED MEATS CORP. KINSTON FACILITY (WR007) — o pH sampling frequency is continuous, with periodic grab samples. The maximum and minimum are reported for each day, with a list of any specified values that were outside the limited range. A violation is considered any value outside the permitted limit range (6-9 units) for more than 30 minutes and/or no more than four times a day (24 hr. period). No pH value submitted during the 2020 monitoring period was considered a violation. • Penalties and fines charged to industries are billed with the biannual surcharges. Receipts are on file up to June 2020. July — December 2020 fines and surcharges will be sent out in February 2021. • Smithfield Packing SIU permit renewed December 31, 2020. • Total NOVs issued for 2020: 0 Total Fines Issued for 2020: $0 • *All maximum flows were based off effluent daily sample readings. Total number of flow samples are Pretreatment sample flows performed by the City and Industrial readings (if they're required to sample). • Dental Amalgam Rule: 12 dental offices/facilities covered under program. 11 of 12 have responded. The last office just opened in late December. Their form will be submitted before 3/1/2021. • Pretreatment Program Information Database sheets: No historical SNC sheet is included due to no industries had SNCs from 2013-2019. Changes made to Pretreatment Program Info sheet: Name of current active facility changed to Johnnie Mosley Regional WRF. Changed name of primary contact for Pretreatment to Benjamin Overton. 1 Permit Modifications during the January-December2020 reporting period: • ALSCO (WR001) o No changes. • CROWN-KINSTON (WR004) o No changes. • DOMESTIC FABRICS & BLANKETS (WR002) o No changes. • ELECTROLUX (WR003) o No changes. • LAUGHLIN POULTRY (NSIU-4) o No changes. • LENOIR UNC HEALTHCARE (NSIU-1) o No changes. • LENOX CHINA (WR005) o No changes.
