Donna, Bridge #3 on Cheatham Ford Road over South Yadkin River in Alexander County has recently failed due to the intense flooding in November of this year. NCDOT proposes to replace this bridge under an emergency contract as soon as possible. Due to the excessive debris and instability of the remaining portions of the bridge, NCDOT would like to begin debris removal and Geotech borings as permit/construction drawings are being prepared to accelerate the replacement. It is estimated that 130-ft of bank stabilization will be needed to restore the area back to pre-disaster conditions. Upon receipt of final permit drawings are a Pre-Construction Notification application will be completed and submitted for impacts. NCDOT requests permission to begin debris removal and Geotech borings prior to submitting for a permit. A survey of the area was conducted on 12/11/2020. No other jurisdictional features or any Threatened or Endangered species were found in the study area. Thank you, Jeffrey L.
