PART IV - EVALUATION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The applicant, Martin Marietta Aggregates is proposing t
reactivate three settling cells and a freshwater suppler pond
upon the commencement of activity at the Matthews Quarry. The
quarry will be removing stone and crushing it to numerous sizes for
commercial sale. Certain store is required to be washed before
sale and thus creates the need for a water supply and treatment
facilities i.e. supply pond and settling cells."
A company representative stated that the system worked
sufficiently while it was in operation before the mine was closed.
There did not appear to be any site specific problems with the
proposed treatment or the location.
It is recommended that the permit be issued.
