Based on the current guidance to minimize the spread of COVID-19, the Department of Environmental Quality has
adjusted operations to protect the health and safety of the staff and public. Many employees are working remotely or are
on staggered shifts. To accommodate these staffing changes, all DEQ office locations are limiting public access to
appointments only. Please check with the appropriate staff before visiting our offices, as we may be able to handle your
requests by phone or email. We appreciate your patience as we continue to serve the public during this challenging time.

Subject: Biltmore Forest - Greenwood Park Stream Restoration - NCWRC comments
Hi David and Kaylie:
I have reviewed the information sent to me about the Biltmore Forest - Greenwood Park Stream Restoration
project, which involves the removal of failing gabion baskets on 540 ft of channel and the restoration of 344 ft
of channel using boulder toes, soil lifts, planting, and three grade control structures on an unnamed tributary
of Fourmile Branch in Buncombe County.
The project should not impact wild trout and a trout moratorium is not needed for this project. Thank you for
allowing me to review and offer comments on the project.
