City of Morganton
PAR Narrative for 01 /01 /2020-12/31 /2020
General Program
The City of Morganton WWTP has completed its headworks analysis (HWA) in 2020. The
wastewater treatment plant personal continues to learn the new fine diffused bubbler system since
plant upgrade. The city's FOG (fats, oil, and grease) program has been reinstated and enforcing the
City's FOG Ordinance. Since the reimplementation of this program, a number of potential
collection system problems have been identified, and sanitary sewer spills avoided. Local food
service establishments and institutional facilities have been brought into compliance with the
ordinance, and the program continues to gain acceptance.
Drought
The City of Morganton is no longer in any water restriction use.
General Permits
No permits lapsed or expired in 2020.
Case Farms # 1098
Case Farms continues to be a valuable customer to the City of Morganton. Case Farms has made
improvements in their pretreatment process in 2020, and is a very proactive industry. Case Farms
had only four compliance violation in 2020. Case Farms is in the process of construction of a flow
equalization basin in order to improve their pretreatment process.
Seiren #4002
Seiren is one of the City of Morganton's larger water and wastewater customers. Seiren is very
cooperative with the City of Morganton's Pretreatment program. Seiren North America had very
good compliance record, with only two compliance violations for the entire year of 2020, and is a
vital component to the local economy.
Overall View
Our local SIU industries seem to be able to remain steady. Support for the Pretreatment Program
among the other industries remains strong. The total number of NOV's issued to SIU's in 2020
was 6, up from 4 in 2019. Our local SIU industries experienced production slowdowns in the year
due to COVID 19. The City of Morganton wishes all of our local industries continued success.
Dental Survey
The City of Morganton sent out 22 dental surveys for mercury and 21 surveys had been returned.
The last dental office is in the process of installing Amalgam separator. They are currently behind
schedule due to COVID 19.
