Wetherill Engineering 1223 Jones Franklin Road Raleigh, NC 27606 Re: 10-inch Forcemain Relocation TIP Project # R-5797 Mr. Maness, We have completed a review of the proposed modifications to the existing 10-inch forcemain that is part of the regional wastewater system serving Fair Bluff, Cerro Gordo, and Boardman. Based on record drawings for the existing forcemain and pump station and design drawings for the proposed modification, we have determined that the proposed project will increase the overall head loss in the pumping system and reduce flow slightly. Based on the design condition and pump model listed on the as -built drawings, we estimate that the forcemain modifications will decrease the pump rate by 5 to 10 GPM or about 1.5% of the permitted pump flow. The pump rate following the proposed project is expected to exceed the flow required by NCDEQ minimum design criteria for self-cleaning velocity. In addition, the reduced pump rate will provide a peak factor greater than 2.5 x's the permitted design flow of 0.295 MGD. Plan excerpts, pump curve, and calculations supporting these conclusions are attached. Please let me know if you have questions or need anything else.
