facility by installing a floating let dock to provide mooring for two (2) het skis Norman Snellgroves Page Two 9 PROJECT DESCRIPTION The project site consists of a canal front lot located at 114 Salisbury Street in the Town of Holden Beach Brunswick County To get to the site from Wilmington take US Hwy 17 S to Mt Pisgah Road Turn left onto Mt Pisgah Road Mt Pisgah Road merges with NC Hwy 130 and continue on NC Hwy 130 Travel over the high rise bridge to Ocean Boulevard Turn right onto Ocean Boulevard West and travel approximately 15 miles to Salisbury Street Turn right onto Salisbury Street and travel approximately 0 1 miles The project site will be located on the right hand side of the street The project site is a canal front lot that measures approximately 50 feet in width by approximately 90 feet in depth The elevation of the high ground area of the lot averages approximately 2 5 feet above normal high water (NHW) High ground vegetation consists primarily of lawn grasses and landscape vegetation The shoreline of the property is has been stabilized with approximately 50 linear feet of bulkhead The adjacent properties have also been stabilized with bulkhead and are both home to single family residences Adjacent to the bulkhead is an existing two (2) slip docking facility consisting of an existing seating platform adjacent to the bulkhead that measures approximately 16 feet in length and 8 feet in width The fixed platform is connected via ramp to a floating dock measuring approximately 12 feet in length by 9 feet in width Located on the north side of the existing floating dock is a boatlift that measures approximately 13 feet length by 13 feet in width The existing boatlift encroaches approximately 3 feet into the 15 foot adjacent riparian corridor setback to the north and the existing fixed platform encroaches approximately 2 feet into the setback to the south The existing pier is in alignment with the adjacent docking facilities located along the man made canal The Holden Beach Land Use Plan classifies the adjacent waters as Conservation and the adjacent high ground portion of the project area as Residential The waters of the AIWW are classified SA by the Division of Water Quality and are NOT designated as a Primary Nursery Area (PNA) by the N C Division of Marine Fisheries They are CLOSED to the harvest of shellfish PROPOSED PROJECT The applicant proposes to expand the existing docking facility by installing a floating jet dock to provide mooring for two (2) jet skis The proposed floating Jet dock would measure approximately 10 feet wide by 12 5 feet long and would be located adjacent to the south side of and in alignment with the existing floating dock The proposed floating jet dock would provide mooring for two (2) Jet skis and the facility would provide mooring for a total of four (4) vessels Water depths at the water ward end of the proposed jet dock would be approximately — 2 feet at Normal Low Water (NLW) As proposed the jet dock would encroach into the adjacent riparian corridor setback of the property to the south by approximately 11 feet therefore leaving 4 feet between the proposed jet dock and the property line The adjacent riparian property owner to the south Edward Wilson has waived the 15 foot setback requirement see application packet Norman Snellgroves Page Three 10 ANTICIPATED IMPACTS The proposed installation of the Jet dock would incorporate approximately 125 sq ft of Estuarine Waters and Pubic Trust Area Minor increases in turbidity should be expected during construction The proposed het dock would extend approximately 29 feet into the canal as measured from the bulkhead and would be in alignment with existing docking facilities As proposed the het dock would encroach into the adjacent 15 riparian corridor setback of the neighbor to the south, however a signed waiver form has been provided As proposed the docking facility would provide mooring for a total of four (4)
