This corridor is a vital north-south arterial in the northern High Point planning area. The purpose of the project is to improve traffic flow and enhance mobility for multiple modes of travel along the corridor. A map of the project study area is attached. The study will investigate a variety of improvement options for the existing two-lane facility. The City's vision for the corridor is an aesthetically pleasing facility that addresses multiple transportation modes and that is sensitive to the rural character and natural and community resources of the area. This vision will be considered in the alternatives development process. A No-Build Alternative also will be considered for the project. The purpose of this letter is to solicit input concerning the scope of the project. To assist in our evaluation of this project, please respond in writing by July 15, 2012 concerning any needs and goals to be addressed, sensitive resources in the project study area, and potential beneficial or adverse impacts of the project relating to the interest of your agency or organization. If applicable, please identify any permits or approvals that may be required by your agency. If you have any questions, please contact me at (336) 883-3231 or mark.mcdonald@highpointnc.gov, or Ms. Jill Gurak of Atkins at (919) 876-6888 orjill.gurak@atkinsglobal.com.
