Please provide a full size sheet of plans at a scale of 1" = 60' or larger that shows
topography, streams, wetlands, buffers, lot lines, roads, and the locations of grass and rip
rap lined swales.
Please number all swales on the plan sheet and cross-reference them on the grassed Swale
worksheets to aid in the review process.
For every Swale that discharges to a riparian buffer, diffuse flow must be provided in
accordance with the guidance on the DWQ web site:
http://h2o.enr.state.nc.us/ncwetlands/documents/LevelspreaderBMPManualchapter.doc. Diffuse
flow must also be provided for the Swale that exits the property between lots 65 and 66. The
resubmittal must include plan details for all components of the level spreaders and dated,
labeled photographs that show the vegetative conditions in the filter strip for each level
spreader. In addition, the resubmittal must include a DWQ level spreader worksheet for each of
the level spreaders, available at:

For every Swale that discharges to a wetland, nonerosive flow must be provided (less than 2 fps
during the 10-year storm event). Please provide the calculations for outlet velocities.
