This correspondence is in reference to vour letter dated August 5 2011 regarding the Third Street
Mitigation Site located in New Hanover County North Carolina This site is being utilized by the
North Carolina Department of Transportation as compensatory mitigation for wetland impacts
associated with project U 0092A
The NCDWQ rep ognizes that there have been some issues with meeting the required 260
stems /acre after the five year monitoring period on a portion of the mitigation site equaling 0 47
acres However the NCDOT and the NCDWQ as well other resource agencies have discussed
this matter several times over the monitoring period The NCDWQ agrees that there is enough
excess mitigation associated with the project to offset the 0 47 acre deficiency associated with
this mitigation cite Therefore the NCDWQ agrees that no further monitoring of the site will be
required
