Jason/Joanne -- Let me kno-w if you are have plans for a site visit this -week Dare - - - -- Original Message---- - From: Gibson, Chris [mailto:claibsonc %aba- ina.com] Sent: Monday, April 09, 2012 9:00 AM To: Dail, Jason (jason.dail a'mcdenr.Qoi) Timpy, David L SAW Cc: Pratt, Jamie Subject: Topsail Beach Nourishment Project Gentlemen, I hope you had a happy Easter. Everything is going very well at Topsail Beach. Dredge production is good and the material is excellent. The material has been coarse (for this area) -with virtually no shell or silt. The turbidity plume is less than 50' in diameter. When -we designed the fill, -we based the fill area and template on 80% retainage -within the template. Ho- ever, South-wind has been running about 98% retainage on the beach and -we are approaching the north limit of the planned placement area early. We had designed for the Banks Channel Cut and the Connector Channel (USACE dock to Topsail Creek) to be placed north of Queen's Grant with the Inlet Cut and Topsail Creek being placed south of Queen's Grant. We would like to continue heading north toward the to- n limit until Nve run out of material in the Connector Channel. If Nve don't go further north, Nve NN-111 likely- run out of space to the south before -,ve clear the channels. It -would be better to place the sand to the north as it -will not be economicall-v feasible to nourish this small area next rear. Please let me know if there are any concerns -with this plan.
