degrees) Latitude 35 07916 N Longitude 77 36795 W (DD DDDDDD) ( DD DDDDDD) 1 c Property size 60 acres 2 Surface Waters 2a Name of nearest body of water (stream river etc) to proposed project Trent River 2b Water Quality Classification of nearest receiving water C NSW 2c River basin Neuse 3 Project Description 3a Describe the existing conditions on the site and the general land use in the vicinity of the project at the time of this application The proposed project sight presently has some hardwood tree species standing and some lowland dwelling plants The area has a shallow intermittent stream running through the cross section that s about 6 8 wide There are also signs of a ephemeral stream during penods of excessive rainfall Currently the ephemeral stream area is dry The adjacent area is predominately farm land and pine plantation 3b List the total estimated acreage of all existing wetlands on the property greater than 15 3c List the total estimated linear feet of all existing streams (intermittent and perennial) on the property 6 025 feet 3d Explain the purpose of the proposed project To lessen the amount of enviromentai impact I am proposing the construction of a new road to connect the construction sight with the existing farm road The road that currently access the area runs through a wetlands area approximately 100 yards in length in one area and proceeds through a second wetlands area that is about 75 yards in length In order to bring the existing road up to Sanderson Farms specifications (poultry intergrator) I would need to extend the road surface to 16 of travel width This would produce a total width of approximately 46 feet when taking in to consideration the standard 3 1 ratio slope Four sections of culvert would have to be disturbed by excavation and replaced with larger culverts to accommodate the new width and the new payloads the road will be subjected too Currently the existing road is about 8 in width just wide enough for a pick up truck to pass The new road will proceed through an area approximately 160 feet and require one 36 or greater piece of approved culvert to be placed in the mtermitten stream and a couple more pieces of the 36 or greater culvert in the ephemeral stream to reduce the possibility of the road being erroded during heavy rain falls This area is the shortest linear access to the construction sight 3e Describe the overall project in detail including the type of equipment to be used The project will require the use of heavy equipment (excavator earth scrapers /loaders) Chain saws will be utilized to harvest the standing timber in the immediate vicinity of the road bed harvested timber will be removed from construction zone to allow for root systems to be excavated Sedimentation control devices will be installed to prevent excavated sod from entering the stream beyond the construction area An excavator will be utilized to install the culverts to the appropirate depth in the stream bed Excavated clay from an on sight source will be hauled in to elevate the road bed above the wetlands area and extend the road to the construction sight Total linear footage will be approximately 160 feet Based on the Corps of Engineers initial assessment the measurements on one side of the proposed road bed are 156 and the other side measured 165 The average of the two length being about 160 Upon completion of the road bed the travel surface will be capped with rock The slopes on the shoulder of the road will have np rap distributed to lessen the possibility of erosion
