NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING FOR PROPOSED HICKS GROVE ROAD
REALIGNMENT PROJECT IN RUTHERFORD COUNTY
TIP Project Number R 5522 Rutherford County
The N C Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting for the proposed Hicks Grove
Road realignment project in Rutherford County
The informal meeting will be held on Thursday, March 29 from 4 30 to 6 30 p m at Chase High
School located at 1603 Chase High Road in Forest City NCDOT representatives will be
available in an informal setting to answer questions regarding the proposed project Citizens may
attend at any time during the meeting There will not be a formal presentation
NCDOT proposes to relocate Hicks Grove Road to a new location between the existing Hicks
Grove Road (near Hicks Grove Baptist Church) and U S 221 in Forest City The new section of
road will consist of two 12 foot lanes about 0 4 miles in length with a speed limit of 35 miles
per hour The CSX railroad tracks that would cross under the new road will be removed and a
new bridge will be constructed on the new Hicks Grove Road at that location
The project will restore the direct access between the Hicks Grove community and U S 221 and
serve a new industry relocating to Rutherford County Construction is scheduled to begin this
summer
