The applicant will apply for a nationwide permit #14. This is not a NCDOT
project. This is a road proposed by a property owner. The proposed
project will provide direct access to US70 Alt. for a future industrial site.
Wetlands have been verified by USACE. The proposed project impacts
0.15 acres of wetlands. To minimize the wetland impact, the road alignment
was designed to cross the narrowest wetland area. To further reduce the
wetland impact, the road footprint was designed as two 11 foot lanes and
the 5 foot wide concrete sidewalk which transitions to a pile supported 5-
foot wide elevated boardwalk over wetlands. Clearing and ground
disturbing activities will be limited to the minimum needed to construct the
project. All sedimentation and erosion control measures standard for road
construction will be utilized and maintained throughout the construction of
the project. Wetland areas will be clearly marked to avoid inadvertent
unauthorized impacts during construction. There will also be periodic
monitoring of construction conditions by qualified individuals to ensure that
work is progressing per established plan.
