Describe proposed work (include discussion as to how hardening of shoreline has been avoided, or why it is necessary): I would like to add rip rap to my existing shore line in order to refortify the current rip rap and seawall and better brace up the existing seawall. It is necessary because my seawall was installed in about 1995 and it must be maintained in order to be sturdy. There is a lot of water that runs down our property toward the lake and our cove has a lot of boat activity/boat wake. Both factors require that our seawall be refortified. I am also repairing my steps but the footprint of the steps will remain the same. FYI I have submitted my project to the Army Corp of Engineers and received a letter authorizing me to proceed. Effective January 1, 2017, the Crops has modified this regional general permit for Lake Norman to require pre -construction notification only for: 1) bulkhead and riprap structure alignments that exceed 500 feet along any shoreline 2) Bulkhead placement that exceeds an average of 2 feet and a maximum of 5 feet waterward of the MHWM in tidal waters or the OHWM in non -tidal waters. For all other activities as described in the attached GP30, pre -construction notification to our office is no longer required. Signature Submittal Date I applied to Duke Energy Lake Services to add rip rap to my existing shoreline in order to refortify the current rip rap and better brace the exiting seawall that was installed in the 1995 time period by a previous owner of our property. I was told that I had to get approval from the Division of Water Resources before they would consider my application complete. My shoreline is 195 linear feet and currently has a seawall and some rip rap.
