Blue Ridge Paper Products Inc. (Blue Ridge) is committed to protecting the environment
and the health and safety of its employees, customers and the citizens of communities
where the Company operates. Accordingly,Blue Ridge is committed to:

Blue Ridge Paper Products Canton Mill
Flood Strengthening
• Raised critical electrical supply and control systems at
wastewater plant to above elevation of Sep 2004 floods
— New DCS control system at WTP
• Emergency generator and flood wall for low lift pumps
keep mill and critical systems at wastewater plant dry in
event of mill power failure (under construction May 2006)
• Focus is on protection of critical systems to minimize
damage and expedite future flood recovery
2006 NPDES Permitting - Canton Mill
Due to DWQ by 5/31/06:
• Signed Permit Application, EPA Forms 1 &2C
— A letter will accompany the application requesting
changes to monitoring frequency for effluent AOX and
for bleach plant effluent chloroform, chlorophenols and
dioxin
