Included in this report: A summary of year 2020, Facility information, Form DMSDF with accompanying paperwork attachments, Form RSSF, (b) & (b)(2) with accompanying lab result attachments, Form PVRT 2T PAN report SAR report, Bed temperature's sheets Should you have any questions about this report, please contact me at (828) 438-5375. Sincerely, Eli Self Wastewater Superintendent and ORC The distribution of the screened finish product is mainly used as a soil amendment. Compost beds are screened through a rotary screen creating a fine humus -like material as the finished product for distribution. The finished product is distributed to various tree nurseries, mulching businesses, landscapers and general public for use of shrubbery, flower beds, fertilizer for grounds, tree growth and many other uses. Each individual who receives this material is listed by name, address and date received. The facility gives each user receiving compost a utilization agreement sheet with the setbacks and other information listed. Pathogen reduction is achieved by recording temperatures from aerated beds to be greater than 55°C, over three consecutive days, obtained at several monitoring locations. Air flow is supplied to the beds by blowers to keep aerobic conditions in the bed. These blowers are on timers and monitored to achieve desired temperatures. Vector attraction reduction is achieved by maintaining bed temperatures more than 45°C for 14 days with temperatures being taken daily by a shift operator. Detention time on composting piles is 21 days under aeration plus another 30 days curing period before material is screened for distribution. The facility tested for metals and nutrients once per quarter and tested for fecal coliform twice per quarter two weeks apart resulting in 21 different fecal coliform tests. All lab results are recorded on Form RSSF & RSSF(b). On the Annual Pathogen and Vector Attraction Reduction Form, there is one fecal coliform exceedance. The lab result of sample from 10/12/20 was <2 and >2078 MPN/g. The facility was not confident in the high result and resampled the bulk pile on 10/15/20. Results of 2" test were <30.3 & <31.3 MPN/g, product met requirements and was distributed. The volume of compost distributed during 2020 has been determined to be 664 dry metric tons. This was calculated by using the guidance for determining dewatered sludge bulk density and equations for converting sludge volume to dry metric tons found in Appendix C of EPA publication 831B-93-002a.
