The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is proposing to replace the subject bridge. The purpose of the project is to replace the functionally obsolete 20’ W x 18’ 6” L timber deck on timber joist bridge with a 33’ W x 55’ L x 21” H cored slab bridge unit. Traffic will be detoured onsite utilizing staged bridge demolition and construction. The new bridge unit will sit at a 60 degree skew on 2.5' end bent cap. The existing stable ditches will be maintained. The proposed bridge inteior gutter drainage system inculdes 1 outlet pipe (approx. 6" diameter) located at the southeast portion of the bridge.
