Hugh Medford Municipal Operations Center, Greensboro, NC
General Permit No. NCG0800000 7 ''
Storm Water Management Inspection
Storm water samples for the second period of 2020 were taken on 9/17/2020. The lab results
were received on 9/24/2020 and showed that total suspended solids (TSS) exceeded the
benchmark value for Outfall A. On 9/25/2020, an investigation for the possible causes of the
TSS exceedances was conducted.
Outfall A
The sampling location at Outfall A was inaccessible at the time of sampling so samples were
taken up gradient from the outfall, not allowing proper BMPs to fully take effect.
r
GREENSBORO
Outfall A is on the southern portion of the property where equipment storage, employee parking,
and several aggregate stockpiles are located. A dirt parking lot just north of Outfall A could
have caused the high TSS reading due to the lack of riprap at the corner of the lot leading to the
retention pond. Asphalt grindings will be placed on the parking area, riprap will be installed at
the culvert leading from the parking area, and a confirmation sample at the approved outfall
location will be collected during the next stormwater event.
Thank you,
Lorien Deaton
