NOTICE OF A CITIZENS' INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOP FOR THE
PROPOSED WIDENING OF DERITA ROAD (STATE ROAD 1445) IN CONCORD FROM
POPULAR TENT ROAD (S R 1394) TO CONCORD MILLS BOULEVARD (S R 2894)

The city of Concord, in conjunction with the North Carolina Department of
Transportation ( NCDOT), will hold a Citizens Informational Workshop on Thursday, March
15, 2012 from 4 p m until 7 p m The workshop will be held at the Concord Fire Station #9
Meeting Room 1020 Ivey Cline Rd Concord
The purpose of this workshop is for Concord and NCDOT representatives to provide
information, answer questions and accept written comments regarding this proposed project
Maps presenting the detailed designs will be on display
The workshop will provide the public an opportunity to participate in the planning
process Comments and information received from the public will be taken into consideration as
work on this project progresses Citizens may drop in anytime during the workshop hours to
speak with project representatives Please note there will not be a formal presentation
The proposed project will widen about 2 6 miles of Denta Rd (S R 1445) between
Concord Mills Blvd (S R 2894) and Poplar Tent Rd (S R 1394)[see attached location map]
The City of Concord proposes a best fit alignment to widen this route In other words, the
roadway may be widened to a particular side in some locations and equally in others in an effort
to minimize impacts to the natural and human environments The proposed cross section for the
roadway is a four -lane divided facility with a 23 foot wide median (30 -foot wide where double
left turn lanes are needed) The posted speed limit would be 45 miles per hour The road would
be constructed to NCDOT standards The provision of landscaping bicycle lanes sidewalks
street lighting and potential bus stops will be considered during development of the project
Additional right of way acquisition and the relocation of homes and businesses may be
required for construction
