Section D: Summary of Finding/Comments (Attach additional sheets of narrative and checklists as necessary)
A routine compliance inspection of the Beau Rivage WWTP was conducted on January 28, 2021. The
purpose of the evaluation was to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with the conditions
and limitations specified in Permit NC0065480. Joel Mingus, Gregory Price and Eric Young were
present during the inspection.
This facility was upgraded to a 0.2 MGD dual -train Integrated Fixed -Film Activated Sludge treatment
plant in 2018. Flow averages 123,000 GPD. The plant appears to be well maintained and operated.
Extra high level alarms were added to the EQ tanks, the aeration tanks and the digesters for notification
through telemetry. Treated wastewater is discharged through an 80-100 foot pipe outfall, located
underwater, into the Cape Fear River.
Since start-up in 2018, there have been NOVs issued for daily and monthly Ammonia and BOD
exceedances and daily Enterococci exceedances. The last violation was issued in February 2020 for
daily and monthly ammonia exceedances.
The facility is compliant with NPDES permit NC0065480. Please review the comment sections of the
inspection report for more details.
