SUBJECT: WRC Comments on NCDENR, Division of Parks and Recreation Application
Hanging Rock State Park — Tory's Den Trail Reroute
Stokes County
DWQ No. 20120127
Dear Mr. McMillan:
Mr. Amin Davis with NCDENR, Division of Parks and Recreation requested a permit to construct a ford
crossing in a tributary to what appears to be Rocky Branch in Stokes County. Comments from the North
Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (WRC) on this regulatory action are offered for your
consideration under provisions of the Clean Water Act of 1977 (33 U.S.C. 466 et. seq.) and the Fish and
Wildlife Coordination Act (48 Stat. 401, as amended; 16 U.S.C. 661- 667d).
We have no major concerns with the proposal provided effective erosion controls are used, as needed, to
reduce downstream sedimentation.
Thank you for the opportunity to review and comment on this regulatory action. Please contact me at
(828) 452 -0422 extension 24 if you have any questions about these comments.
Sincerely,
Dave McHenry
