Shoreline Evaluation - A shoreline evaluation of the subject property was completed on 7/23/20. A copy of the field notes and shoreline map are attached to this report. A set of photographs taken during visit have been sent to Eagle Creek Renewable Energy for the permit file. A significant amount of erosion was observed during the site visit. The subject parcel has a moderate rise above the shoreline and the height of the eroded shoreline slope varies between 1 and 3 feet in height with up to 18 inches of undercut. The property is wooded with an existing house and a shared pier at the west property corner. There is an existing drainage swale that flows out to the shoreline just east of the pier. Numerous boulders were observed along the shoreline. No lap trees were observed on the shoreline. Some large boulders were observed on the shoreline and lake bottom at the west property corner, Orientation of the shoreline appears to present a significant exposure to wind driven waves and boat wakes. B. Recommendations - Based on the site evaluation for the property, we recommend that stabilization be completed as follows: 1. The existing trees located on the shoreline shall be removed in order to grade and install the recommended stabilization measures. Other trees off the shoreline should remain and be protected during installation of the stabilization measures. 2. Contractor shall carefully grade and prepare the shoreline to receive the non -woven fabric and rip rap. Soil horizon overhangs should be carefully removed, and roots projecting from the eroded shoreline should be trimmed and wrapped 101 NORTH TRYON ST. CHARLOTTE, NC T 704.334.7925 SUITE 1400 28202 F 704,334.7926 prior to placement of the stabilization. Grade the shoreline to provide a 2:1 face slope prior to installing the fabric and stabilization. The fabric should be buried into the lake bed and also into the grade at the top of the slope above the rip rap. Install stabilization as indicated on the enclosed site map, and in accordance with Detail 2, Minor Rip Rap Stabilization (copy attached). 3. It may be necessary to hand place the non -woven filter fabric and rip rap material under the existing shared pier. It is recommended that the applicant coordinate with the adjoining property owner for installation of the stabilization completely under the pier. 4. The rip rap stabilization shall transition down to the elevation of the lake bed where the existing drainage swale is located. 5. Tree branches, tree trunks, lumber, and other types of floating debris have accumulated along the shoreline of this property. The applicant will be allowed to remove all of this debris from the shoreline and legally dispose of it as part of the shoreline stabilization project. 6. Upon completion of shoreline stabilization, the owner will be required to provide vegetation in order to stabilize any disturbed areas above the rip -rap slope with Eagle Creek Renewable Energy approved ground cover plant materials.
