Enclosed is a NWP 3 application for your review This application is submitted on behalf
of the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority for maintenance excavation of the existing water intake
canal located off of the Cape Fear River upstream of Lock and Dam #1 in Bladen County NC
Approximately 105 acres of open water (6,160 cubic yards of material) will be excavated in
order to reestablish original water depths The applicant will work from uplands and material
will be hauled to an upland area located off site
The Pre Construction Notification form associated maps, and site plan are enclosed for

The purpose of the project is to dredge the canal to onginally- constructed depths in order to allow the maximum amount
of water to be pulled into the intake station

the canal He will begin work near the river and move toward the intake station Dredged material will be hauled to an
