Mr. Hayes,
Thank you for the phone call yesterday. As requested, I am send a summary of the overflow event on
12-22-20 and responding to NOV-2021-DV-0057.
On 12-22-20, approximately 2:30, the restaurant manager for Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen at 1305 E.
Franklin St. Chapel Hill, NC 27514 was notified that there was an overflow from our sewer line that
connects to the main OWASA sewer. A clean-out for this line is slightly uphill from a sidewalk below
the building and is adjacent to Bolin Creek Trail.
We immediately stopped using the water and sewer system and contacted Mr. Rooter Plumbing and
our maintenance man. Our maintenance man determined that the overflow had spilled onto a small
area of vegetation and the sidewalk. We immediately contained the spilled material.
Town of Chapel Hill was in contact with us and provided the information to properly contain and
clean the affected area. The cause of the overflow was determined to be a blockage and Mr. Rooter
Plumbing, on arrival began the process of line cleaning.
We removed and replaced approximately 2 inches of soil that had been affected and covered it with
straw. We also cleaned the sidewalk.
All lines are working properly.
Thank you with your assistance with this. Please let me know if additional information is needed.
Sincerely,
David Allen
