GENERAL NOTES
1. ALL CONSTRUCTION IS TO BE PERFORMED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT CHATHAM COUNTY AND NCDENR
STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS.
2. ALL PERMITS RELATING TO THIS PROJECT MUST BE OBTAINED PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
3. PROTECTION OF EXISTING VEGETATION: AT THE START OF GRADING INVOLVING THE LOWERING OF EXISTING GRADE
AROUND A TREE OR STRIPPING OF TOPSOIL, A CLEAN, SHARP VERTICAL CUT SHALL BE MADE AT THE EDGE OF THE
TREE SAVE AREA AT THE SAME TIME AS OTHER EROSION CONTROL MEASURES ARE INSTALLED. THE TREE
PROTECTION FENCING SHALL BE INSTALLED ON THE SIDE OF THE CUT FARTHEST AWAY FROM THE TREE TRUNK AND
SHALL REMAIN IN PLACE UNTIL ALL CONSTRUCTION IN THE VICINITY OF THE TREE IS COMPLETE. NO STORAGE OF
MATERIALS, FILL, OR EQUIPMENT AND NO TRESPASSING SHALL BE ALLOWED WITHIN THE BOUNDARY OF THE

REMEDIATION SEQUENCE (RS)
1. CONTRACTOR SHALL SCHEDULE A PRE-CONSTRUCTION MEETING, PRIOR TO BEGINNING WORK, WITH THE OWNER'S
REPRESENTATIVE, ENGINEER, NCDENR, AND CHATHAM COUNTY.
2. OBTAIN ALL REQUIRED PERMITS PRIOR TO BEGINNING WORK. PERMITS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, LAND
DISTURBING PERMIT AND 401 WATER QUALITY CERTIFICATION, STORMWATER CONSTRUCTION GENERAL PERMIT,
AND 404 PERMIT.
3. COMPLETE DEMOLITION AS SHOWN ON SHEET C-1.0.
4. NCDENR-DWQ REQUIRES THAT ANY WORK IN OR ADJACENT TO THE STREAM WATERS BE CONDUCTED IN A DRY
WORK AREA. CONTRACTOR SHALL FOLLOW BY-PASS PUMPING STEPS AS SHOWN ON THIS SHEET PRIOR TO ANY
WORK WITHIN THE STREAM,
5. CULVERTS ARE TO BE BURIED SUCH THAT EXISTING STREAM BED IS LOCATED AT 20% OF THE PIPE DIAMETER. THE
42" RCP WILL BE REQUIRED TO BE LOWERED TO ACHIEVE THE REQUIRED DEPTH. SEE SHEET C-2.0 FOR REVISED
INVERTS.
6. INSTALL PRECAST END WALLS AS SHOWN AND PER DETAIL ON SHEET D-1.0 OF THE EROSION CONTROL PLANS.
7. AT THIS POINT, CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE SEDIMENT ACCUMULATION, BY HAND LABOR ONLY, LOCATED WITHIN
THE STREAM AT DEPTHS SHOWN ON C-2.0. CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN NOT TO REMOVE MATERIAL BELOW THE
SEDIMENT DEPTH. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DISPOSEUNG OF THE SEDIMENT PROPERLY.
8. STABILIZED SLOPES WITH SEEDING AND JUTE NETTING AND INSTALL PERMANENT OUTLET DISSIPATERS. OUTLET
DISSIPATERS SHALL EXTEND TO TOP OF BANK.
9. WHEN CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETE CALL NCDENR AND CHATHAM COUNTY FOR A FINAL INSPECTION.

MAINTENANCE:
Inspect sediment fences at least once a week and after each rainfall. Make any
required repairs immediately.
Should the fabric of a sediment fence collapse, tear, decompose or become
ineffective, replace it promptly.
Remove sediment deposits as necessary to provide adequate storage volume
for the neat rain and to reduce pressure on the fence. Take care to avoid
undermining the fence during cleanout.
Remove all fencing materials and unstable sediment deposits and bring the
area to grade and stabilize it after the contributing drainage area has been
properly stabilized.
NOTES:
