This inspection was conducted to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with the conditions and limitations specified in NPDES WW Permit No. NCG550315. A summary of the findings and comments noted during the inspection are provided in the enclosed copy of the inspection report. The Compliance Evaluation inspection was conducted by Division of Water Resources staff from the Asheville Regional Office. This inspection was conducted to determine whether the system is being operated and maintained in compliance with General NPDES Permit No. NCG550000. During the inspection, Brandon Buchanan with Environmental Inc. was also on site checking the UV disinfection system. He determined that the UV system was not functioning properly and may need to be replaced. The UV disinfection system needs to be fixed or replaced, and it is recommended to inspect it yearly along with the septic tank to ensure it is working properly. Is the facility sampling performed as required by the permit (frequency, sampling type representative)? At the time of the inspection, the effluent pipe was not discharging. The permit requirements are being followed but the permittee hasn't had to sample because the effluent pipe is not discharging. Continue to periodically check the effluent pipe to determine if there is discharge. If discharge is visible, annual sampling is required.
