Curt, From our conversation yesterday, I understand DCM has concerns regarding the increase in the estimated dredge volume for South Jinks Creek and the nearshore placement area. The dredge volume has increased from the original estimate of 40,500 CY to 49,300 CY. The increased is believed to be from the typical annual shoaling in south Jinks Creek. The original estimate stems from surveys taken in August 2016 and the new volume was calculated from surveys conducted in August 2020. The dredge area and footprint has not changed, so we can only estimate the additional volume is from background shoaling. During the design of the nearshore placement area, an increase in volume was anticipated. The site is designed to hold approximately 62,000 CY, so the capacity will not be affected. The site was over designed to absorb any increase in volume as well as to make it easier to construct. We intend for an approximate 25 cy/ft placement over the complete 2,000 ft long placement area. This should keep us well below the -6 MLW height restriction and still provide sufficient capacity for 50,000 CY. Understanding the 49,300 is the max with overdredge, I expect we will be closer to 46,000 CY when complete. (Please note, the design allows for approximately 31 cy/ft.) Please let me know if this addressed the divisions concerns or if additional information is needed. Thanks again for your assistance with this issue!
