Per our NOV on January 6t", the Town of Burnsville Waste Water Treatment Plant exceeded BOD, 5-day
monthly average. The Town's monthly limit value is 30 and the exceedance was 39.37.
I spoke with Paul Isenhour with Water Quality Labs, the Town's contracted ORC of our sewer plant. He
stated that with the I&I and with the .3 treatment train being out of use posed the issue of having an
exceedance of the BOD monthly limit in October 2020.
The Town has rehabbed the .3 treatment train and it is back online and operating efficiently. We are
currently working on replacing the diffusers in the .5 treatment train to fix the air leaks that are
currently there and to help with the amount of oxygen entering the plant.
We are seeking funding from CDBG-I for our main interceptor from Town Hall to the sewer plant. We
are doing our own smoke testing along our gravity line at known location of I&I, documenting and fixing
these areas will help greatly reduce the I&I issue that the Town has currently.
