Skvada, III Governor Secretary November u, 2014 Darrell DeWitt, ORC CMUD-Mallard Creek CO0 10 4222 Westmont Drive Charlotte, NC 28217 Subject: February 5, 2014 toxicity split test review results DeWitt, This letter is in reference to the CMUD-Mallard Greek WRF whole effluent toxicity split test dated February 5 2014 Chronic Ceriodaphnia dubia pass/fail split testing was performed by Meritech, Inc., ETT Environmental, Inc. and Pace Analytical Services, Inc. The tests completed by l eritech, Inc. and ETT Environmental, Inc. passed and the test completed by Pace Analytical Services, Inc.' failed. A review of sampling, testing, and laboratory documents and procedures a completed to investigate the difference in test results. This review showed no obvious cause for the disagreeing results. Facility sampling procedures were discussed with Shannon Sypolt of the Charlotte - Mecklenburg g Utilities Department and found to be acceptable. As a reminder, for toxicity testing we highly recommend the following procedure be used to ensure that a thoroughly mixed and evenly portioned sample is obtained. :First, mix the composite sample d rinse each of the sampling containers. Then, mix the composite sample again and fill the first+ sample bottle 1/ full. Next, mix the composite sample main and fill the second sample bottle 1/4 full. Repeat this'mixing and pouring in r/4 mere eats, while alternating between the sample bottles, until all sample bottles are filled leaving minimal headspace. The test results from ritech, Inc. and ETT Environmental, Inc. will stand as i the official results d a result o "pass" has been recorded for the, February , 2014 C D-Mallard Creek WRF toxicity test. If you have any questions regarding this split test review please contact Christopher V"entaloro or Cindy Moore at 1 q-743-840 . Sincerely, C(indy A.
