Many copied here are already aware of the project, but some may not be. The project proposes to use resilient living shoreline techniques to protect eroded areas of the NC 24 causeway/roadway embankment immediately southeast of Swansboro. The project is a collaborative effort between NCDOT, the NC Coastal Federation, and SWCA Environmental Consultants. This team was the recipient of a $1.68M National Fish and Wildlife Federation grant to help design and construct the project. An agency meeting for this project was tentatively scheduled for March of last year but the project was put on hold. Within the next couple of days, I will follow this email with some potential virtual meeting times so that we can get the project moving forward again. There is a significant amount of overlap in agency representation between the representatives that NCCF would usually coordinate with, and those that NCDOT would usually coordinate with. NCDOT will be preparing the environmental documentation and permit applications for this project but we welcome the participation of anyone familiar with this type of project. If there are others that need to be included in the coordination of this project please let me know. I aim to schedule the agency meeting before the end of January. Call or email with any questions.
