The NC Division of Water Quality has reviewed your submittal for a 401 Water Quality Certification for
the aforementioned pro�ect Review of your application revealed it lacking necessary information
required for makmg an mformed permit decision The permit application was deficient in the following
areas
The current design sliows the aluminuin arch spann►ng approximately 25 feet of fhe ilood plain
on both sides of the stream Also the eYisting bents will be removed from the floodpla�n The
Division is concerned that the stream will overwiden beneath the arch culvert Please provide
a method to prevent this, such as counYersinking large rock into the floodplain
Therefore pursuant to 15A NCAC 2H 0507(a)(5) � e will have to place the pennrt application on hold
until we are supplied the necessary information You have 21 days to respond m writmg with the
requested information or not�fication to this office and the 401 Permittmg Unit at 1650 Mail Service
Center Raleigh NC 27699 1650 that the mformation is forthcommg If at the end of the 21 days this
office has not received this information m writmg we will assume you are withdrawmg your application
and rt will be returned Furthermore unt�l the information is received by the NC Division of Water
Qualrty we request (by copy of this letter) that the US Army Corps of Engineers place the permit
application on hold
