The Tovn has decided to modifi the permit request at this time to limit eica ation vithin the federal channel to the federall authorized template of 8+2 as ve did last ear, utilizing a non-ocean certified dredge. We also vill be requesting permission to dredge the shoal vhich has formed in the channel at the east end of Topsail Creelc. For vorlc outside of Colregs Demarcation Line (approiimatel Sta 10+00 on the permit dravings), ve vill continue vith pursuing the MOA to use the Corps fleet for the 2012 season. Re ised dravings vill be sent after our sur es of the channels are completed neit veelc. Current estimates are that the dredging vill in oh e approiimatel 150,000 c. We belie e this vill eipedite both the state and federal processes and ha e the best outcome for the future of Topsail Inlet and the Topsail Beach. The Tovn intends to continue pursuing a permit to dredge to 16+2 as part of the 30 ear plan, but realize that proper re iev requires more time than is currentl practicaL If ve vant to protect portions of the beach hit b Irene and ha e the inlet open vhen the 2012 summer season begins, this is our best course of action. As ah as, thanlc ou for our hard vorlc and help on this project. Please ha e a happ and safe Holida Season.
