The North Carolina Division of Water Resources conducted an inspection of the Old Pressley
Sapphire Mine on 6/14/2018. This inspection was conducted to verify that the facility is
operating in compliance with the conditions and limitations specified in Non-discharge Permit
No. WQ0000125. The findings and comments noted during this inspection are provided in the
enclosed copy of the inspection report entitled "Compliance Inspection Report".

There were no significant issues or findings noted during the inspection and therefore, a
response to this inspection report is not required. Please be advised that even though you
have closed the mine to the public, you are still responsible for maintaining all permit conditions
until the permit is rescinded.

Inspection Summary:
The inspection was conducted by Beverly Price and Mikal Willmer of the ARO. Mr. George McCannon assisted with the
inspection.
Mr. McCannon closed the mine to the public in August 2016. At this time he has no plans plans to re-open but would like to
keep the permit active.
Maintenance records were available for review. The facility consists of a flume, 2 settling ponds, a recycle pond and a 2,000
gallon storage tank. The settlings ponds contained very little water and mostly vegetation. The ponds are fenced. There
was no discharge coming from the recycle pond; approximately 2 ft. of freeboard.
