Page 1. of 1 . ASSISTANCE WITH HORSEHEAD UTILITIES TOWN OF FOREST CITY RUTHERFORD COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA PROJECT NARRATIVE This project includes the construction of a new duplex submersible lift station (officially named 390 Hicks Grove Road on property owned by Horsehead Corporation south of Broad River near Forest City, North Carolina in order to serve the sanitary sewer needs of their employees. The waste stream includes bathrooms and shower facilities for approximately 250 total employees per day over three shifts. The project also includes the installation of approximately 7,370 linear feet of new 4-inch PVC force main from the pump station northward, across Broad River, then eastward along the river before turning north again and following the discharge alignment of Riverstone Industrial Park WWTP and finally terminating at the bar screen of Riverstone WWTP (NPDES Permit No. NC0087084). Per the 15A NCAC 02T .0114 wastewater design flow rate of 35 gallons per day per employee per shift for factories or businesses with showers or food preparation, it is expected that the 390 Hicks Grove Road pump station will -receive and pump approximately 8,750 gallons per day. The crossing of Broad River is currently in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Section 404/401 permitting process, and any other stream crossing that may be necessary will be accomplished via directional drilling methods thereby avoiding any impacts. Although the pump station and force main described herein will be owned and operated by the Town of Forest City, the on -site gravity sewer collection system that ultimately feeds 390 Hicks Grove Road pump station is being permitted on behalf of Horsehead Corporation under separate cover by Odom Engineering of Forest City, North Carolina. .QPOFEBS01 j•.f/ 03 .....Bob,,,,,,, us ,, ..— Forest City, NC Project Site Chesnee, SC VICINITY MAP NOT TO SCALE 0 rRiverstone .
