On Tim Heim of the Asheville Regional Office performed a Compliance Evaluation Inspection with
Sampling for NC0089109 on December 3, 2020. This inspection was performed concurrent with a
storm water inspection of the facility performed by DEMLR. Isaiah Reed, Alaina Morman and Aana
Gamble of DEMLR. Charles Howell (AZP Environmental Manager) was present for the inspection, and
Kobus DeWet (AZP Facility Manager) was present for a meeting to discuss DEMLR and DWR permit
questions. A Compliance Evaluation Inspection with Sampling of General Permit NCG500667 for
Non -Contact Cooling Water and Boiler Blowdown was also conducted at this time, and is reported
separately.
Notes on items discussed relevant to the DEMLR permit are retailed by that Division.
Grab samples (Split with AZP) for pH and all metals included in Industrial Wastewater Permit
NC0089109 plus RCRA metals were collected the following locations, and reported analytical results
are as indicated:
1) Effluent composite auto -sampler location upstream of Industrial WW Discharge:
pH: 6.80
Metals: Reference Attached Sample ID 89109 1203 IWW
2) Energy Dissipater at inlet to the SW basin system:
pH: 6.96
Metals: Reference Attached Sample ID 00667 1203 SWI
3) Manhole at which the NCG500667 discharge comes into the SW system (No SW flow appeared
present due to dry conditions):
pH: 5.86
No violations of permit conditions or deleterious impacts to the receiving stream were observed at the
time of the inspection, and the facility appeared compliant with NC0089109.
