The 0 16 pro�ect site is located off SR 1362 at 36 Gaskill Lane in the Oyster Creek Banks
subdivision adJacent Oyster Creek canal off the Pamlico Sound on Ocracoke Island in Hyde
County North Carolina Ad�acent development is single family residential servmg as either
primary and/or secondary vacation homes with some servmg as rental property The
development centers around the canal system wYuch provides boating access to the Pamlico
Sound The pro�ect srte is developed wrth a 24 x 24 pile supported smgle family residence wrth
associated septic tank and dramfield Currently there are no decks attached to the existing
dwellmg The driveway/parking for the house is on sand Vegetation on the lot consist of 4 red
cedars and some upland grasses The srte is approximately 3 above the normal water level
(NWL)
CAMA/Dredge and Fill General Permit No 56144 B issued 9 March 2011 authorized the
excavation of a 15 wide by 35 long boat basin off the man made canal with an assoczated 5
wide dock around the perimeter a boatlift m the basin and a Jet ski lift
The man made canal at this location is designated as Coastal Waters by the Marine
Fisheries Commission and SA by the Environmental Management Commission and is closed to
shellfishing
Pro�ect Description
The applicant proposes to construct an 8 x 24 (192 ft2) open wooden deck attached to
the existing residence on the east side facing the subdivision road The deck will be elevated
'7 4 from the ground level The deck wrll be located in Zone 2 of the Tar/Pamlico River Basin
Buffer The applicant also proposes to undertake repairs to the existmg house and to pour a
concrete pad underneath the existing house in the same footprmt (24 x 24 ) as the house The
applicant does not propose any new impervious surface
Anticipated Impacts
The proposed open wooden deck will shade 192 ftz of uplands
