Carteret County
I am in receipt of your letter dated 6 September 2011, regarding the review and comments on a
major permit for Golden Landing at the end of Old Carteret Road(SR 1400) in Smyrna, NC. The main
concern voiced by you and Mr. Jonathan Howell, when we spoke, was the potential for the dock / basin
to accommodate more than the 10 slips being requested. While we all understand the water under the
north side of the dock will be quite shallow, I do take your point about the need to prevent the
possibility of boats mooring there. I am in complete agreement that a hand rail along the north side of
the dock and across the east end will serve to prohibit boats mooring there.
I agree to revise the project to include the handrails as indicated on the attached drawing and
thank you for your recommendations on this project. Please let me know if you need further
information on this project for it to move forward.
