Re: Person County Executive Airport
Runway 6 Approach Clearing
Parcel ID No. 5942 - 2120 Frank Timberlake Road
Dear Mr. Lunsford,
Person County needs to begin clearing trees from the approach end of Runway 6 at the Person County
Executive Airport within the next few weeks. The County recently performed a survey to update
obstacle information as required by the FAA. The survey identified an area of trees on your family's
property that penetrates the 34:1 approach slope for Runway 6. The trees are located within the
existing aviation easement that the County purchased over the property several years ago.
I am writing to you on behalf of Person County to confirm your family's permission to clear the
approximate 2.3-acre area located on your family's property at 2120 Frank Timberlake Road. A map
showing the proposed clearing area (including clearing that will be performed on the Airport itself) is
attached. The purpose of the clearing is to make the Runway 6 approach safe for aircraft that will be
using the runway.
Trees in this area will be removed and the stumps will be grubbed out. Following the grubbing, the
Contractor will smooth grade the surface and seed the disturbed areas.
Please indicate that you will allow the County and its subcontractors to enter your family's property for
the purpose of clearing the 2.3-acre area that penetrates the 34:1 approach surface as shown on the
attached map. Your signature below indicates you have given your permission to the County to
complete this work.
I am available to answer any questions you may have. I can be reached at 336-504-4776.
Sincerely,
Ray Foushee
Person County General Services Director
1 LAd give the Person County Executive Airport and its
subcontr ctors permission to ter my property for the purposes of clearing trees within the limits
